New Hair, New House & A Baby Update, Oh My!

Crazy, crazy! I'm 18 weeks already! I can't believe how fast this is going now that I am feeling great. I'm hoping to get better about posting weekly updates about the baby and more pics. We have been super busy lately and it's hard to get my man, i.e. photographer, out to take pics of me and the growing belly lately.

Two really exciting things this week...

We had our 18 week appointment on Tuesday and, although it was a really quick general appointment, we got to hear the heartbeat for a few minutes and that was awesome!

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that we have been in the process of trying to buy a house. We've really only been in the process for a little less than 3 weeks, but the very first house that we looked at we fell in love with (of course, isn't that how it always happens?!). We wanted to be in a specific neighborhood and found a house with a good-sized back yard that faces the pecan groves, i.e. no backyard neighbors (which are behind me in the above picture). Last Wednesday we put in an offer, and this Wednesday, Joshua was getting ready for work and came down the stairs with a big smile on his face and said, "Babe, listen to this," and played the voice-mail from our realtor telling us that we...

GOT THE HOUSE!

We are so excited and elated and can't wait to bring our baby home to this house. Some of our closest friends here live 4 doors down so that will be fun, too! I can't wait to have BBQ's and a fire in our backyard this summer. The stars are amazing in AZ. Inspections start next week, so your prayers would be appreciated for that!! Thanks, friends!

Okay, back to baby... After a lot of thought, I decided not to do diary-like entry letters on this blog to the baby. I asked on Twitter what everyone thought, and although the majority said they thought it was sweet, I feel like it's kinda weird personally and want to just save that for my journal to the baby. So I'll be trying to do these weekly updates and maybe when the baby is here I'll change things up a bit.

Baby D's Stats!

Baby's size: Sweet Potato

How far along:
18 Weeks!!

Sleep: It's been great lately. I wake up a few times a night to use the restroom, but I know that's God's way of preparing me for sleepless nights :) My biggest problem has been major hip pain... Why did no one tell me I would experience this?!! Holy crap, it has hurt so bad in the morning sometimes that I've cried.

Maternity Clothes: Fortunately I have been given a ton by Joshua's coworkers (such a blessing) or girlfriends... totally living in leggings these days, too. I've never really been a leggings girl but wow, they are a pregnant woman's best friend!!

Food cravings: Carrot Juice... I have never in my life drank carrot juice on a daily basis like I do during this pregnancy. It's wild. When I drink it, I get major feedback from baby with lots of movement :) I also am loving green superfood juice from Trader Joe's, oranges, and blueberry waffles

Food aversions:
I can not for the life of me eat fried or fatty foods. I had fast-food for the first time in a few weeks on Tuesday and had the worst reaction to it. What can I say, this baby loves all things healthy and that's great!

Symptoms I HAVE: Hip pain and the nose of a vampire

Doctor’s Appointment: On Tuesday, baby's heartbeat was low at 140 BPM. We have a formal, anatomy ultrasound in mid-March where we get to see the baby again and have a thorough check-up to make sure everything is growing properly. We can also find out the gender if we decide to...

Movement: I felt the first movements at 13 weeks and didn't feel them from weeks 14-16... now I feel them every day and especially when I'm sedentary and after carrot juice, ha!

Belly Button:
Innie

Gender: TBD or surprised

Best moment of the week:
Hearing that heartbeat

What I’m looking forward to:
That 20 week ultrasound and feeling the baby kick for the first time

What I miss: Wine, beer and cheese... and coffee!!

P.S. On Wednesday, I also cut 6 inches off my hair and got it highlighted for the first time in 2 years... put a little bit more blonde in it... what do you think?

Sunglasses: Target
Tank: Victoria Secret
Cardigan: Forever21
Belt: Macy's
Leggings: Target
Boots: Target

Do you have any inklings of whether the baby is a boy or girl?

Love the cut & the color! I'm taking your pic in Tuesday as my color inspiration (still debating on blonde or brown) but if I go blonde- I want it like yours!!

It's so weird for me to see that your backyard is dirt- I'm so use to green grass, definitely would be an adjustment if we ever move to AZ! :)
