I was thinking this morning while I read my Bible out on our patio and ate my good 'ol standby Greek yogurt + granola that I'm just in a really good place right now. I finally feel settled into motherhood. No longer do I analyze, "Do I take Eden out of the car first and grab the grocery cart, or do I grab the grocery cart first and then take her out of the car and place her in?"
All of these things are becoming second nature and less "new." It's
like I've finally mastered a new job. Well, not mastered, but... shall we say, finally adapted well? Although I will admit that being a mom has been the most natural thing I have ever done in my life. When I think that in the past 4.5 months I have given birth, learned to breasfeed, sleep trained my child, fed her solids, gone on two roadtrips and more I am pretty darn proud of myself (and us).
Life is just really good right now. I'm in a good place. I feel like Joshua and I are settling into being parents, and our love for one another-- although it has to take a back seat sometimes to the demanding needs of a 4.5 month old-- has deepened. We have a vacation to look forward to next week, hopefully some visits from family members in the upcoming months, and some house projects to finish. It's a good life. It's simple and mine. I wouldn't change a thing (even though Eden cutting teeth is seriously about to do me in sometimes!).
These are some things that are causing me to smile this week!

Your a great mom, and I love that your an adventerous mom too! I can relate, only wish I had more beautiful places to hike where I live.
The picture of Eden congratulating your dad on retirement is too cute!! She looks genuinely happy for her grandpa! :)
Your family is just precious! How wonderful! I remember the same feeling, finally feeling like you're getting into the groove. :) And now I'm about to wreck it all and learn it again with 2 kids :P
Yay for feeling settled--we are 3.5 months in and getting there!
How may I ask did you sleep train Eden? We have been following Babywise but our little one has decided to go rougue and make up her own rules. Would love to hear what y'all did!

Stopping by from Hello Hue ... what a lovely blog. I remember those days of everything with baby being so new. It can be overwhelming, but never doubt that you’re doing a good job.
LOVE the name Eden Grace. Strong but beautiful!
